Announcing the Launch of the Agricultural Knowledge Mobilization Lab!

With the amount of information in the world, it can be easy to get lost in mixed messaging, scientific half-truths, and outright false information. Confidence is the key to high-quality value chains but if we do not know what is happening and we can not trust the information we are getting, then we can not develop the systems around us. The provision of robust scientific evidence is the objective for the creation of the Agricultural Knowledge Mobilization Lab (AKMLab). This platform mobilizes agricultural research for the agricultural sector, policy makers, and the public.

This initiative answers one important question: What information is of value to the agricultural industry when it comes to communicating evidence and successes to stakeholders? Too often, academic and science information remains inaccessible behind journal paywalls, failing to reach audiences who can move the evidence and logic into a marketplace, into policy, and into Canadian fields. The AKMLab is our solution to empirical research inaccessibility.

Who is AKMLab for?

At AKMLab, we take the insights from rigorous, data-driven agricultural research and translate them for a wider audience. Credible information vetted by trusted researchers and synthesized in a way to help you complete your agricultural initiatives. Whether you are searching for a topic in particular or looking to learn more about the agrifood industry, in general, AKMLab can bridge science, practice, and the public into one communication platform.

AKMLab can amplify important new agriculture related research results, to better communicate the successes and opportunities throughout the agrifood chain. Whether it be research and policy briefs or more of the overarching storytelling you expect from our blog website SAIFood, AKMLab is your opportunity to explore what agricultural research has to offer. The platform offers more casual entrances into agricultural science, but we also provide downloadable credible research content with which you can utilize to further communicate

Everyone has a vested interest in safe, sustainable, and high quality food. AKMLab is where those education and communication processes start.

SAIFood

SAIFood (Sustainable Agricultural Innovation & Food) launched in the early spring of 2015 under the leadership of Dr. Stuart Smyth, at the University of Saskatchewan. Because research isn’t written for the kitchen table, SAIFood breaks it down current issues or research surrounding food and agriculture and repackages as a blog so you know what is happening within agricultural policy and research, agri-food innovation, regulation and sustainability. Our SAIFood goal is to make information digestible.
